  6. and conspiracy charges in an alleged 1986 plot to shoot a union
  7. official; in New York City. Prosecutors claimed Gotti arranged
  8. the shooting because the official ordered thugs to wreck a
  9. mob-run Manhattan eatery that was being built with nonunion
  10. labor. Because of his two prior convictions, the "Dapper Don"
  11. would have faced 25 years to life in prison as a persistent
  12. felon.
